Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT)

HALT surmounts the traditional concept of environmental testing. It allows you to discover the possible design flaws from different angles of view and correct them during the design stage. This test can help you shorten development time and reduce costs. Moreover, manufacturers are able to use the Failure Mode and relevant information identified during the test as an important basis for follow-up product research and development.

Battery Test (UN38.3) 

Many consumer electronics, such as cell phones and laptop computers, powered by lithium batteries are usually transported by air. Since these batteries have a known potential to overheat, catch fire and burn intensely, they pose safety concerns for airplanes. To ensure the safety of lithium batteries during shipping, lithium batteries and lithium battery packs are required to pass section 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria (UN Transportation Test for Dangerous Goods).

Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM/EDS) and Optical Microscope Inspection (OM)

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is an important tool for materials and failure analysis. Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS) can be applied in conjunction with SEM analysis and is a technique used to identify the elemental composition of a sample or small area of interest on the sample.

Dye and Pry Test

The "dye and pry" technique, which relies on a liquid dye that penetrates into existing micro cracks or under open solder balls, is a destructive test method for the revealing of defects on the solder ball to pad interface. After letting the dye dry, the BGA is "pryed" off its PCB and the solder balls are inspected for the presence of the dye that reveals any interfacial connection problem areas. Even though this is a destructive test, it does provide a very quick method for finding the root cause of grid array soldering problems.
